ADAS Rosemaund at Preston Wynne, near Hereford, is one of five sites being used in the sclerotinia germination monitoring service that went live last Friday on the www.agricentre.co.uk website.
Growers and advisors are invited to log on for the next 12 weeks to track germination in their region, to assess disease risk, and then decide on the need for fungicide treatment. The service is updated every Friday.
Filan is recommended for the control of sclerotinia stem rot in oilseed rape and is recommended in high disease risk situations at early to full flowering.
Filan is well proven, having performed well in trials and commercial use.
The monitoring service has been run by ADAS and BASF for the past three years and it has proved a popular management tool for advisors and growers to assess the disease risk and treatment.
Early germination was detected by the end of March on three of the monitored sites.
