Kington Cricket Club members have been working hard to ensure that the club has been well and truly spruced up before the start of the new season.
As part of the NatWest CricketForce event, 47 volunteers aged from six to 74 worked hard to tackle a range of jobs around the Recreation Ground.
All the woodwork was painted around the pavilion including the score-box, changing rooms, shower room and toilets. New shelving was added in the changing rooms, the roof was repaired and cleaned and the brickwork and patio slabs scrubbed clean.
The sight-screens were repaired and repainted and the nets repaired and rolled.
"We even had a working party to clean out the leaves under the hedge so that we can find the balls that go for four more quickly," said project leader Debbie Stokes.
"Kington has always been a proactive cricket club and it has been no coincidence that they participated in the ECB's national CricketForce event," said Herefordshire's cricket development officer Chris Dirkin.
"Many jobs were completed by a variety of members and I'm sure this will set a good example for all other clubs in future years."
Ross Cricket Club also took part in the CricketForce weekend with activities spilling over to last weekend when work was carried out in refurbishing the club's historic pavilion.
Meanwhile, Kington's junior season starts on Monday at 6.30pm with coaching led by Australian Dominic Marsh. Contact Debbie on 01544 388881 for details.
