AN exhibition detailing the mixed-media work of Xaviere Hughes and Buried Treasure by Alexandra Weaver opens at Hereford Courtyard on April 22.
A tutor at Herefordshire College of Art & Design, Xaviere's work examines the way in which visual symbols affect our identity as a population through screen-printing, collage overlaying, block printing, drawing, painting and text.
Her cupcake pieces are expressions of the notion that we are living in a disposable society that illustrates a displacement of values which has evolved from the overwhelming choice within our culture.
Also showing is Alexandra Weaver's Buried Treasure.
Using close-up photography, inspired by the way light dances upon water and glass and her love of colour, Alexandra works with natural sunlight to create abstract images.
She encourages the viewer to enter her images and to wander around, exploring the forms and textures in their imagination.
Buried Treasure is in the Lower Canyon and True Love in the Gallery at Hereford Courtyard from April 22 to June 4.
