Alvechurch 0 Wellington 1
A SECOND-half strike from Will Perkins reinforced Wellington's position near the top of the Midland Floodlit Youth League Southern Division.
Perkins was unlucky in the 10th minute when his powerful drive came back off an upright and Wayne McNeil missed a great chance to open the scoring with a close range header as Wellington dominated the early stages.
Alvechurch's attack was largely kept in check and when the home side did break through they found Steven Bell in the Wellington goal in top form.
After the interval, Mike Mullenger caused plenty of problems for the home defence with his powerful running and Matt Myles and Mark Davies failed with good openings as Wellington kept up the pressure.
On 72 minutes, Perkins lashed home a free-kick from 25 yards and, after this, fine play by Nick Williams and Mat Maturi in the Wellington defence ensured that the villagers would hold on to the three points.
