Ledbury Town continued their brilliant FA Vase journey at New Street on Saturday and progressed into the last 32 of the competition.

LEDBURY TOWN 3, STUDLEY FC 1

Ledbury got off to a great start in this third round tie against visiting Midland Alliance outfit Studley FC and opened the scoring in the fourth minute when man-of-the match Steve Olchek headed home from close range.

The home side kept the pressure on Studley and in the 27th minute a free-kick from ace marksman Robbie Colwell flew just over the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten.

Minutes later Colwell made a good run and pulled the ball back for Lee Hooper but his well-struck first time shot was saved superbly by keeper Mark Sanders.

Just before half-time Sanders again rescued his side when Stuart Hall swung in a corner kick and a bullet header from Hooper was somehow saved and the score remained 1-0 at the break.

For the first 20 minutes of the second half Ledbury were under constant pressure but the defence held firm and chances were few.

In the 75th minute, however, a high, lofted ball into the Ledbury box saw Antony Savory head home from six yards for the equaliser.

Ledbury hit back and just two minutes later an inswinging corner from Hall was headed down by Olchek, for Colwell to finish with power.

In the 83rd minute it was home goalkeeper Adam Penny's chance to shine and he made a brilliant save to deny Savory's 25-yard effort.

In the closing minutes Ledbury made the game safe when a corner from Alex Volosanovs was only cleared as far as leading goalscorer Colwell, who beat three defenders and blasted the ball home from 10 yards to complete the scoring.

In the FA Vase fourth round Ledbury Town have been drawn away to Didcot Town of the Hellenic Premier League, one of the strongest teams left in the competition. The match is due to be played on Saturday, January 22.
