Ledbury Town returned to West Midlands premier division action on Saturday and produced an awesome display to run out 5-0 winners against visiting Goodrich.

LEDBURY TOWN 5, GOODRICH 0

Third-placed Ledbury opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Chris Palmer was upended in the penalty box. Robbie Colwell stepped up and slotted home the resultant spot-kick.

The rest of the half was fairly even with both sides going close.

In the second half Ledbury Town took full control and increased their lead in the 52nd minute. A Stuart Smith pass found Robbie Colwell on the edge of the area, he beat two defenders and powered home a shot from 12 yards.

Just eight minutes later Lee Hooper threaded a ball through the visiting defence for Robbie Colwell to run onto, the goalkeeper came out but completely missed the ball and Colwell was allowed to roll it into the empty net from 18 yards to complete his hat-trick.

In a rare Goodrich attack in the 63rd minute, Simon Russon had a golden opportunity to pull a goal back but fluffed his attempt at an open goal.

Ledbury got back on top and midfielder Stuart Smith went on a tremendous twisting and turning run before seeing his powerful shot come back off the crossbar. The rebound fell for man-of-the-match Nathan Haisley, who headed home from six yards to make it 4-0.

Another twisting run from Stuart Smith ended with him hitting a superb low shot which beat a fully-stretched goalkeeper and went in the bottom corner to make it five.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury visit Ettingshall HT in the West Midlands premier division. The coach leaves the ground at 12.30pm, kick-off at 2.45pm.

Ledbury Town are due to play their postponed HFA Challenge Cup tie against fellow West Midlands premier division side Kington Town on Wednesday (December 8) at New Street. Kick-off 7.45pm.
