Ledbury Town entertained Sutton Town in the FA Vase second round on Saturday on a sodden New Street pitch.

LEDBURY TOWN 2, SUTTON TOWN 0

The home side got off to a good start and after five minutes a free kick was headed down by debut boy Oliver Thompson for Lee Hooper to pick his spot from 12 yards.

Ledbury were rarely troubled in the first half and on 43 minutes it was 2-0. A Lee Clueitt free kick into the box was cleared out only to Alex Volosanovs, who volleyed home from 25 yards to give the visiting goalkeeper no chance.

After the break Sutton came more into the game and on 75 minutes should have scored but a shot was spooned wide from five yards with the goal gaping. Then on 79 minutes the visitors saw a header from a corner hit the crossbar.

Craig Humphries in the Ledbury goal looked unbeatable in difficult conditions with the defence also in fine form.

It was a good all round performance with Latvian international Alex Volosanovs man-of-the match.

Ledbury Town have been rewarded with another home tie against Midland Alliance outfit Studley. The match to be played on December 11, kick-off 3pm.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Town are at home to Goodrich in the West Midlands premier division, kick-off 2.45pm.
