UNBEATEN Ledbury Town cruised to their third West Midland Premier Division win in as many matches after defeating a lively Brierley & Hagley side on Saturday at New Street.

Although play was end to end, the Ledbury defence of Olczak, Green, Clueit and debutant Matt Gray were rarely troubled.

With Stuart Hall and Stuart Smith playing their last game before lengthy suspensions, Ledbury needed to keep up their good start to the season and both players were involved in a commanding game.

With the lively Neil Gardiner breaking at pace Ledbury displayed their attacking style, which they hope will be a feature of their play this season.

Ledbury opened the scoring when a free kick by Neil Gardiner was misjudged by the visiting keeper who let the ball slip from his grasp into the net. Then Green rose to head the ball over the bar and Colwell shot just wide.

The second half saw Ledbury press more and it was the prolific Robbie Colwell once again breaking through to calmly chip over the advancing keeper.

Five minutes later Stuart Hall hit an unstoppable free kick from 25 yards and the game was virtually over as Brierley & Hagley players finally accepted defeat.

Player of the match, selected by managers Ford and Barry, was Scott Mason, who protected the Ledbury defence and supported his forwards admirably.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury Town entertain Dudley Town, kick off 2.45pm.

Ledbury Town have received a bye in the first round qualifying of the FA Vase and are now due to visit Midland Combination outfit Nuneaton Griff in the second round qualifying on Saturday, September 25 (3pm).
