HEREFORD Racecourse's summer jumping programme came to an end with an evening fixture which saw a double for jockey Carl Llewellyn, who is now one of the more seasoned riders on the circuit, and wins for local trainers Matt Sheppard and Michael Scudamore.

Llewellyn scored in the Selling hurdle aboard top weight Blue Leader but it was the win of Excellent Vibes for his retained stable of trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies which caught the eye.

Having his first run since October, the seven-year-old Vibes jumped with authority in the three-and-a-quarter-mile handicap chase and once Llewellyn asked his mount to quicken they easily drew clear of runner-up Keltic Lord.

Twiston-Davies commented: "He jumped splendidly and Carl was impressed - after this we'll keep him going for the summer."

Eastnor trainer Sheppard again sent out a winner at his local course when his Rudetski finally made amends for two recent course defeats by beating Kavi by six lengths in the two-and-a-half-mile chase.

The win of Michael Scudamore's Grey Tune in the opening Novices hurdle was a complete surprise for all connections as his starting price of 50/1 indicated.

Ridden by John Kington, son of former jockey Robert Kington, the ex-Irish Grey Tune responded valiantly to the challenges of Boulevard of Dreams and Killindini by half a length and three quarters of a length.

Peter Scudamore commented: "He had shown only a little in Ireland and we didn't know much about him. But I was delighted with the ride John gave him."
