KRIS Jones is gaining the reputation as a play-off specialist after beating Tony Green in an extra four-hole decider for the Herefordshire Men's Amateur Champ-ionship at South Herefordshire GC.

It followed the Burghill Valley player's success of the previous week when he captured the Shropshire & Hereford-shire Under-21 title at the sixth extra hole in a three-way play-off at Mile End.

Jones and Ross-on-Wye's Green both posted 36-hole totals of 153 over the testing but superbly prepared South Here-fordshire course.

The four-hole play-off produced another close battle before Jones coolly clinched the trophy with three pars and a birdie to his rival's four solid pars.

The experienced Jeff Davis, of Ross, won the Eddie Evans Cup handicapped event, played in conjunction with the championship, when he edged out 14-year-old host club player Tom Harris on a countback after both finished with nett 147s.

The Herefordshire GC trio of Ben Synnock, Neil Greening and Kevin Gibbons won the team shield with a total of 490.
