TWO new sides have been elected to join the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League.

At the league's annual meeting at the GWRSA club last Wednesday, Dore Valley, who will play at Dorstone, and Bartestree Colts were placed in Division 3 for the coming season.

The league, however, remains at its previous strength as the two Tupsley sides have withdrawn.

And, with a number of club penalties still to be settled, any of Tupsley's players from last season wishing to sign on for a new club may be required to pay £24 as their share of the outstanding fines.

The organisation of fixtures for the coming season will be handled by the Herefordshire Football Association and if this arrangement had been in place for the season just finished, treasurer Pete Stead believed that the loss of £4,343 over the season would have been reduced by around £1,500. Stead also pointed out that significant capital expenditure of £2,300 on a new photocopier and a printing bill of around £1,000 had contributed to the loss.

"The level of call-offs has also been reduced so there have not been so many fines. If you could be a little more lax next season it would be appreciated," he joked.

It was agreed, however, that league subscriptions would increase to £70 for senior clubs and £50 for junior clubs for the 2006-7 season.

Stead, league chairman Mick Best and secretary Derek Senior were all re-elected to their posts while Gareth Williams takes on the job of results co-ordinator.

Vice-chairman Phil Watkins was elected to be a vice-president with Alan Stokes taking over as Best's deputy.

The league season begins with the charity shield match between Ewyas Harold and Sutton United at Burghill on August 20 with the Premier Division kicking off the following week.

Junior sides get underway on September 3 but as this clashes with the Wales v England World Cup qualifier, clubs not wishing to have a game scheduled for that day should contact HFA secretary Jim Lambert by July 31.
