HEREFORD Leisure Centre groundsman John Leek has scooped two Football Assoc-iation awards.
Leek and his team, who were nominated by Pegasus Juniors, won the local award for groundsman of the year and then went through to pick up the regional award covering the North-West and Midlands area.
"These are just rewards for the effort that John and his team have put into upgrading the quality of the playing surface on the main pitch which was in a very poor condition a couple of seasons ago," said Pegasus director Kevin Bishop.
Leek and his team may still be in line for another award as the ground has been re-inspected for the national Groundsman of the Year award and the outcome is now awaited.
