FIVE hundred children from Leominster area primary schools will be hoping for fine weather today (Thursday) when they take part in a sports festival organised by Minster College.

Around 100 Year-10 students from Minster, a specialist sports college, will be helping to organise different events from each age groups aimed at finding overall festival champions.

With assistance from teachers Laurence Speller and Jackie Langer, a committee of students has organised the festival, deciding on activities and the co-ordination of schools.

"As a sports college, our school has become more and more active and it is gratifying to know that our students are able to organise this event so independently," said Minster's director of sport, Nigel Maddock.
