FUN DAY – The chamber of trade is holding an annual fun day at Wentes Meadow on Sunday, May 3, from 2pm to 5pm. Attractions will include kids football, annual tug-of-war and children’s drawing competitions, plus lots more fun throughout the afternoon. GRAND FOOTBALL MATCH – On Saturday at Kington Football Club at 5.30pm, there is a chance to see the older “has been” footballers from Presteigne against Kington. There will be a collection for a local charity so pop along and see some local players from yesteryear make fools of themselves. The game is for the over-35s and any old Presteigne footballer who wants to make an appearance can call player/manager Doug Preece on 07773 659107. The return fixture will be on Sunday, May 24.

KEEP FIT CLASSES – There are keep fit classes at Llangunllo Village Hall every Monday and Friday. On Mondays from 9.30am to 10.30am, Janice Cremer takes a session of aerobics, salsa, pilates and dietary advice. The cost is £2.50 for non members and £2 for members. Then on Fridays, Jenny Williams will take an aerobic and body toning session, also from 9.30am to 10.30am. This session will cost £1 for members and £1.50 for non members. RACE NIGHT – There is a charity race night in aid of Kington Horse Show and Agricultural Society at Titley Village Hall on Saturday, April 25, with the first race starting at 7.30pm. ST MICHAEL’S DISCOED – Wednesday Windows is back. The renowned potter Jonathon Chiswell-Jones will take a talk about William Morris and the arts and crafts movement at St Andrew’s Hall on Friday, April 24, at 7.30pm. Admission is £5 at the door, which will include an interval drink. Also on Saturday 25, he will be exhibiting his work in St Andrew’s Hall from 10am to 4pm. His work will be available for sale. GARDENS – Whimble gardens and nursery are open from April through to mid-October. The gardens are situated on the B4372 New Radnor to Presteigne road at Kinnerton. They are open from Thursday to Sunday (and Bank Holiday Mondays) from 10.30am to 5.30pm. Refreshments will be available.

QUIZ – There is a fun quiz at St Andrew’s Hall on Saturday, April 25, at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Tables of four cost £10 per table, which will include light refreshments. For further details, call 262751.

SWIM LESSONS – East Radnor Leisure Centre is running adult swimming lessons on Wednesday evenings starting on Wednesday, April 22, from 7pm to 7.30pm. The six-week course costs £25 and can be booked by calling the centre on 260302.

FUN RIDE – There is a Horse Fun Ride on Monday, May 4, from Norton. The first horse will go out at 10am and the last at 1pm. There will be optional jumps available and rosettes for everyone.
