CHOIR EVENING – St Lawrence Church, Bishopstone, was full to capacity on Friday, October 3, when it echoed to the Hereford Rail Male Voice Choir who gave a performance of distinction by singing songs from around the world. One number performed entirely in Welsh contained a superbly sung solo. What gave the evening a touch of piquancy was the two Stanley Holloway monologues delivered by Mr Ray Bonnington and the humorous interlude provided by Mr Tony Bailey. This was the choir’s first performance under the direction of their new musical director and it sent out all the right vibes for a bright future. The Friends of Bishopstone Church (who organised the evening) wish to thank all who supported the event, especially those who gave very generous donations to raise the total of £609 profit.

VILLAGE LOTTERY – The winning number was 39 but no one has this number. Next week will be a rollover.

DO YOU WANT A PUB? – The parish council has received a planning application to change the use of the Lord Nelson pub to become an antiques centre. The planning sub-committee will meet to consider this application next Tuesday. The question is do you want to keep a pub or would you prefer something different? Let Barry Megson know before next Tuesday by calling 590691.

RUBBISH – The parish freighter will be in Byford village on Saturday between 11am and 1pm. It offers you the opportunity to clear your house, garage, shed or garden of all the clutter.
