RIDERS and students from Bartestree’s Sheepcote Equestrian Centre have represented the area with great results.

In the Midland Association of Riding Clubs’ Championships which took place in Rodbaston College, Lucy Pincus and Rebecca Powell took the lion’s share of prices in dressage and showing and both were awarded Central Horse News most stylish rider award.

At Bromyard Equestrian Centre summer dressage championships, the three championship classes were won by Sheepcote riders. Lucy Pincus on Spike won the Preliminary test and were second to another rider from Sheepcote, Rebecca Rooney, in the Novice.

Rebecca was on her own pony Yoko and also won the final championship of the day in the Elementary class.

While the pony riders were making their mark at Bromyard, the more senior riders were firing on all cylinders at the Petplan Area Festival in Pencoed, Wales.

The day started with a third place for Rebecca Powell and Golden Beau in the preliminary championship and carried on with a convincing win for Beth Barnett on Astro Medinox in the Novice championship.

On the second day, Kara Johnston-Smith on her own horse, the Sheepcote bred Sheepcote What’s New, pocketed two Championships at Medium and Advanced Medium level.

All these riders qualified for the final Championships taking place at the British Dressage National Championships at Hartpury College in April 2009.
