LEOMINSTER’S Lion Ballroom continues its autumn piano recitals with the visit of a brilliant young soloist from South Korea, Young-Choon Park, tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm.
A child prodigy who started learning the piano at only four years old, with her first full recital three years later, Young-Choon then performed Beethoven’s 1st Piano Concerto with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra when she was nine.
Since 1993 Young-Choon has toured extensively, with performances at Birmingham Symphony Hall, St David’s Hall, Cardiff, and New York’s Lincoln Center, among many other top concert venues in Europe and the USA.
Tomorrow’s programme contrasts Sonatas by Scarlatti and Haydn with two important Beethoven Sonatas, the much-loved Pathetique (Opus 13), and Opus 110 in A flat Major.
Advance booking is recommended for this outstanding recital, with tickets at £10 (students £5) from Gill’s Gifts on 01568 611588.
