TWO Herefordshire postmen are to cycle from Hereford to Leeds to raise money for charity.

Mike Chandler, from Hereford, and Glyn Jones, from Bodenham, will personally deliver a letter from the Breast Cancer Haven in Hereford to the new Haven in Leeds – a round trip of more than 300 miles.

They will start the journey from the Hereford shop in St Owen Street on Sunday, October 12, and will return on Saturday, October 18.

“Breast Cancer Haven is a charity which is close to both of us as my mum died of breast cancer when I was 16 and Glyn lost his mum to cancer three or four years ago,” said Mike.

Last year, Mike raised more than £20,000 when he did the treadmill marathon at the Maylord Orchards Shopping Centre, which took him just over four hours to complete.

Mike and Glyn are in the process of sending out letters to 15,000 households across the county.
