MORE than 70 adults with learning disabilities will be involved in creating a mosaic, which will be displayed in the Kindle Centre in Hereford.

The project is a joint venture between ECHO and SCORE, two local voluntary organisations who run activities for disabled people in the county, and the Green Eyed Monster Company whose tutors will oversee the mosaic’s design and creation.

Maggie Percy, Development Worker for ECHO and project co-ordinator said: “This project provides an excellent opportunity for people with learning disabilities to work together creatively.

“It also serves to raise the public’s awareness of what disabled people can do and that they are an important part of our community and able to contrinute creatively to it.”

Recycling will be one theme of the mosaic and project members have been busy amassing bags of bottle tops, buttons and beads.

The project will take place at the SCORE workshop, 12-14 Catherine Street, Hereford and will be unveiled at the Kindle Centre next to Asda in September.

It is being funded by Elmley Small Grants Arts Fund, Hereford City Council, EF Bulmer Foundation and The Kindle Centre.
