LENT LUNCHES - The series of Lent lunches organised by various households in the village raised a rewarding £546. The chosen charity this year is the Jell-Al-Amal Orphanage for girls in Bethany in the Middle East.

BRASS CONCERT - On Tuesday, April 29, Tarrington Brass has been invited to play at the Lord Mayor of Hereford’s civic service at St Paul’s Church, Hereford.

GRANNY GOES TO SEA - Tarrington resident Jeanette Forrester is joining the sixth leg of the Clipper round-the-world yacht race during April. She is doing it for a remarkable nursing home, Martha House in Hereford. The sixth leg of the race starts in San Francisco, goes through the Panama Canal and finishes in Jamaica where Jeanette will be reunited with her husband Graham. The Forrester’s daughter is cared for by the Martha Trust. Donations will be gratefully received by the Martha Trust, Old Eign Hill, Hereford HR1 1UB.

FLICKS IN THE STICKS - On Saturday, the film due to be shown at the Community Hall, Tarrington, at 6pm is Ratatouille. Refreshments served from 5.30pm. The film will finish about 7.45pm.

ROGATION SUNDAY - Parishioners of Tarrington and Yarkhill will meet for the Rogation Service at Freetown Farm on April 27. The congregation will pray for the blessing of the crops and all that makes up the way of life in the rural community. The service starts at 11am after a walk from Tarrington Church to the service which starts at 10.15am. Thanks to Richard and Margie Bradstock of Freetown Farm.

CHURCH CHOIR - Jane Putnam from Tarrington Church Choir is appealing for new members. The choir practises once a week on a Tuesday night and sings twice a month at church services. Anybody who wants to join would be made very welcome. You do not need to be able to read music and all voices are welcome.
