AN OFFENDER who failed to turn up for rehabilitation appointments with the probation service has been back up before magistrates.

Scott Dean admitted one count of failing to comply with the requirements of a community order when he appeared before Kidderminster magistrates this month.

The court heard that 35-year-old Dean, of Wye Street, Hereford, had been handed the order by magistrates in Hereford in February this year after he was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He had assaulted a woman in Hereford on January 27, magistrates in Hereford heard.

But he failed to attend a probation appointment on March 5 and further failed to provide the required evidence to reasonably excuse his absence within the time limit.

Magistrates said Dean must now attend an additional three rehabilitation days. He was also ordered to pay costs of £60.

He must also continue with alcohol and drug rehabilitation.

At the time of the original offence, it was said that he would complete a “building better relationships” programme and try to “rebuild his relationship” with the victim of his assault.
