A fire service spokesperson said the fire, which they were called to at 8.30am, involved a lorry carrying seven tonnes of toilet paper.

Crews tackled the blaze with the freezing conditions proving challenging, the spokesperson said, while the Environment Agency and Highway Agency were also in attendance to assist with the fuel, oil and water runoff.

The A49 lay-by coming out of Leominster (past the Kimbolton turn) will be closed for 48 hours to allow for vehicle recovery and clean-up after this incident.
