RAY Jones and Dennis Brown showed good form to win Herefordshire Seniors' new Captain's Charity Pairs Trophy.

The pair secured the trophy, in a closely fought competition, with 79 stableford points.

Norman Sockett and Colin King were second with 78 points, while Ian McIntosh and Bren Standell were third with 77 points.

Alfi Roberts, Ken Hill and Martin Blackaller triumphed in the three-man team stableford in Kington's latest winter competition.

The winning trio took first place with 81 points.

Murray Mackintosh, Phil Price and Phil Jones secured second place with 78 points.

Tony Humphries, Tony Stokes and Viv Weaver, with 94 points, won a seniors' team event on a countback.

Dick Lee, Stan Thornton and Rob Pritchard also hit 94 points but finished second after a countback on the last six holes.

John A Williams, Bill Didcock and club captain Stan Arnold were third with 85 points.

Club professional Andy Gealy and Bert Priday secured a narrow victory in Kington's Bradnor Blueballs at Ludlow Golf Club.

Gealy and Priday won the competition after finishing level on points with Howard Perry and Andy Edey, who also scored 41 points.

Ken Hill and Stan Thornton came third with 40 points.

Bob Dixon, Brian Donaldson and Brian McDonnell took top spot with a nett 63 in the Burghill Valley Seniors' Texas Scramble.

John Griffiths, Mike Hooper and Ron Price finished just one point behind in second place.

Brian Blower, Len Lewis and Mike Wilde achieved third place with a 65 nett.

Wayne Gwynne, Shaun Bufton, Kevin Goodall and Paul Bufton won the Yellow Peril at Belmont with 144 points.

Barry Norton, Christopher Smith, Peter Kury and Phil Skyrme took second place with 140 points.

Phil Skyrme achieved first place on a countback in the seniors' Winter League.

Skyrme finished ahead of second-placed Eric Meyers after both players carded 37 points.

Third place went to Geoff Foster, who scored 34 points.

Peter Smith, with 37 points, carried off the Hurcombe Plate.

Ian Caves finished second and Alan May, third, after both players carded 35 points.

Chris Connolly won Cradoc's Winter Stableford with 33 points from 16 holes.

He played off 10 - seven-eighths of his club handicap.

Play was not possible on holes 10 and 11 due to heavy rain which reduced the field to 42 players - about half the normal figure.

Padam Gurung, playing off seven, also finished with 33 points and came second on a countback.

S Hudson, who played off 23, took third place with 32 points.

Only two golfers scored birdies and both were secured on the par three seventh hole.

Graham Harris and Gurung each won 21 balls for their achievements.

Paul Madden remains in front after seven rounds of the 10-round Cradoc Winter League.

Madden has picked up six wins and a half to total 33 points.

Wayne Gittoes is second with 31 points from six wins and one defeat.

Tony Bowkett has moved up to third place with 30 points from six straight wins.

The eighth round of the Winter League is scheduled for this Sunday.

Ian Fraser, with 40 points, was the winner of Leominster's Monthly Medal.

Fraser topped Division 1 from Richard Francis (37 points) and Brendan O'Brien (31 points).

Martin Davies triumphed in Division 2 after carding 39 points.

Tony Wathen was second with 37 points, while Michael Boutcher was third with 34 points.

Nigel Moore came out on top in Division 3.

Moore took the Division 3 medal with 41 points from Mark Humpage (39 points) and Dave Everall (35 points).

David Yarranton won Sapey's February Midweek Medal after firing 79-14-65.

Nick Rendle was the Division 1 runner-up on a countback after carding 81-11-70.

Third-place went to William Fordyce (81-11-70), Christopher Roberts gave a good display to win the Division 2 medal.

Roberts shot 88-21-67 and finished ahead of second-placed Gerald Cushion (85-16-69) and third-placed Don Bradley (91-22-69).
