HEREFORD Cathedral has reported a dramatic increase in visitor figures for the past year, thanks to TV coverage and a local tourism team.

More than 25,000 people attended special services throughout December, and millions more tuned in to the BBC's Songs of Praise Christmas special, which was filmed at the Cathedral back in November.

Press officer Dominic Harbour said carol services on December 22 and 23 were packed to capacity, almost all school carol services throughout the month were full and that the Christmas Day services were also well attended.
