A man was filmed leaping on top of one of the Big Parade elephants leading to fears the fundraising sculptures could be damaged.

The man is filmed in Angel Place taking a run up before leaping on top of the Life's Snakes and Ladders elephant outside CrownGate.

Once he has clambered on top, he slaps the back end of the elephant and shouts "Yee-haw" during the video shared on social media site TikTok.

A friend can be heard laughing in the background of the clip which was uploaded yesterday (Tuesday).

Tricia Cavell, fundraising director for St Richard’s Hospice, urged people not to climb on the Big Parade elephants.

Hereford Times:

“While we absolutely want our elephant sculptures to be enjoyed, after a challenging 18 months or so for everyone, we would urge people not to climb them - not just for their own safety but because it damages the beautiful paintwork before the sculptures will be auctioned for our care in the autumn.

“Please help us keep the herd looking their best and, in turn, help us raise funds to support patients and their families here in Worcestershire when they need us.”

Previously, two men were spotted climbing on top of another elephant in the High Street.

Signs on the elephants ask people not to climb on them as they will be auctioned to raise money for St Richard's Hospice.

The auction will be hosted by Rich 'Hursty' Hurst and auctioneer Philip Serrell on Thursday, October 14 at DRPG in Hartlebury.

Thousands of people have been enjoying St Richard's Hospice's Big Parade this summer with decorated elephants placed around the city.

Over 100,000 elephants have been 'collected' on the app during the hugely popular art trail which runs until Sunday, September 5.
