UNLESS you're the parent of twins, triplets or more, having children of different ages can make keeping them all entertained almost impossible.

But not if you take them go-karting. "Awesome ... amazing ... fantastic!" and the inevitable "When can we come again?" were the responses of my two children, Jacob, who's almost 14, and Thea, almost 10.

A three-year gap at this stage of their lives often looks unbridgable on the activity front, but go-karting at Herefordshire Raceway saw them united in enthusiasm, with both of them quickly demonstrating an insatiable appetite for speed and quite a wide competitive streak.

Starting cautiously, both were soon speeding round the track with ever-increasing confidence, achieving a top speed of 20mph.

They were so focused on the track and their lap times that they didn't notice the fabulous setting, close to the pretty black-and-white village of Weobley, and the efficiency with which Herefordshire Raceway is run.

Instruction is provided, as well as top quality helmets, overalls and gloves for all drivers, as well as waterproofs in the event of bad weather.

Asked where they would rank go-karting on their list of best activities/days out, Jacob and Thea were unanimous in putting their time at Herefordshire Raceway at the very top of the list, with both clamouring for a repeat performance for their birthdays. £££.
