THE police service for Herefordshire is looking to improve the way it works with disabled people.
West Mercia Constabulary (WMC) wants volunteers to join an independent advisory group which helps police to build understandings and trust with disabled people, as well as advising on policies and procedures relating to disabilities.
The group, which has been running for three years, also looks at what sort of an impact critical incidents can have on communities, and how hate crime can be tackled.
Chair of the Disabled Independent Advisory Group, Kate Arnett, said as there are 10 million people in the UK who consider themselves to have a disability, WMC wants to deliver the right service to those living in, working in or visiting the area.
