Suffolk ram lambs peaked at 1,450gns at the Western Area Branch Show & Sale in Abergavenny.

The top call came for an entry from the Anglesey-based Morris Flock of Gary Owen. The lamb was by Plas Llewelyn Punch out of a ewe purchased at the 2006 Perrinpit Reduction Sale.

It had stood 2nd in the untrimmed Class and was purchased by Richard Francis to join his Ward Flock at Ruthin.

Next best call at 1,000gns was the Reserve Champion from Denbigh-based Myfyr Evans. A son of Cairness First Flight and out of a Conveth Gold Bar ewe, the lamb was purchased by Mike Davies & Sons, Llangorse, Brecon, to join their Safaddan Flock.

Another North Wales-based vendor, J K & I Evans, Abergele, sold the 1st prize untrimmed lamb from their Plas Llewelyn Flock at 940gns to J Haliwell, Connahs Quay, Deeside.

Shearling Rams sold to 800gns for an entry from Mr Derek Farr, which sold to Mr Edward E Breeze of Presteigne.

The show champion came from John Sinnett's Stockton Flock and sold at 600gns to Mr W G Rees of Ruthin.

Myfyr Evans sold another lamb at 630gns to G L Davies, Corwen.
