TRAINS to South Wales and Manchester from Hereford Railway Station have been cancelled due to extra safety inspections.

The disruption is expected to last until the end of the day.

National Rail said there is a shortage of trains because of extra safety inspections.

This means that direct services operated by Arriva Trains Wales between Manchester and South Wales have been suspended.

There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until the end of the day.

This affects trains between Manchester Airport/ Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff Central/ Carmarthen/ Tenby/ Milford Haven.

There is a limited train service available between Shrewsbury and Crewe.

Replacement road transport is operating between Newport South Wales and Hereford.

National Rail said passengers may use West Midlands Railway between Hereford and Birmingham New Street and CrossCountry between Birmingham and Manchester but did not advise passengers to use this route.

Arriva Train Wales said tickets will be accepted on other train operator's services and passengers who were travelling today will be able to use their tickets to travel tomorrow instead.
