POLICE officers have moved from their station in Peterchurch to join their fire service colleagues in the village.

The move marks further cooperation between West Mercia Police and Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue [HWFRS].

PCSO Pete Knight from the police's Golden Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "We have received a warm welcome from our colleagues at HWFRS and are continuing to cover the Golden Valley just as before, albeit from Peterchurch Fire Station."

As with the old station, there is no counter service and officers are unable to receive callers at the door without a prior appointment.

The former Peterchurch Police Station is just a short distance away and first opened its doors in 2005 after was built on the car park of the old station, which was demolished.

Peterchurch Fire Station is a retained fire station, so it is staffed solely by on-call firefighters.
