AN investigation is under way after an elderly woman died in a kitchen fire in Hereford.
Firefighters were called shortly after 7pm last night to Panson Place, off Holme Lacy Road.
Three fire engines from Hereford arrived at the scene but the fire was out on arrival.
The woman in her 90s was found dead at the scene.
Group Commander Martin Lown said: “Sadly a woman lost her life following a fire last night. Our thoughts go out to her family during this difficult time.”
He went on to confirm that a full fire investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
The Hereford and Worcester Fire Service Community Safety team called at other properties in the area last night to offer local residents reassurance and relevant home fire safety advice following the fire.
