IT may have felt more like summer at the start of the week but winter is edging closer and steps are being taken to prepare the county for adverse weather.
In his report to full council last Friday, Herefordshire Council's chief executive Alistair Neill said the council has a fleet of 15 gritters, snowploughs, four snow blowers, 6,500 tonnes of salt and a 24-hour surveillance team.
