A TEAM of 30 women are set to swap the rolling hills of Herefordshire for the mountains of Nepal when they take on the challenge of a lifetime.
The group will be trekking to Everest base camp – some 17,600ft above sea level – in a bid to raise £120,000 for charity, and are setting off tomorrow (Friday, September 29).
One of the team members is Becky Harris, a carer for Kemble at Home in Hereford, who said: "It’s really exciting but I am a bit nervous as well.
“We have heard lots of stories of people struggling with altitude sickness because you are so high, and we are expecting it to be tough going.
“But I love a challenge and we are all determined to work together as a team and make it all the way to Everest base camp.
“It is due to take two weeks to complete the trek, and of course a lot depends on the weather conditions, so things could change as we go along.£
The group is raising money for two causes – Family Activity Breaks and Community Action Nepal – and have raised £104,000 so far.
