THE past was brought alive when the Historical Hereford Day returned to the Castle Green.
A medieval fashion show, falconry displays, a court jester and the king's executioner all brought smiles to visitors' faces while educating many of the younger guests.
Organised by the Friends of the Castle Green, last Saturday's free event also featured a vintage fair and live music while television's Kate Bliss was on hand to value antiques.
And not all the fun was restricted to times gone by.
Go-karts whizzed below the hot sun while children as young as four tried their hand at the growing sport of drift biking – to see that the future can be equally as exciting as the past.
