FARMS will be opening their gates this Sunday to welcome visitors during a national event.

LEAF Open Farm Sunday aims to showcase the world of farming and see first-hand what farmers do.

There are nine farms taking part in Herefordshire on Sunday, with various opening times.

Beaconhill Farm in Bosbury will be open from 11am until 5pm, for visitors to see a small select herd of pedigree jersey cows.

Their milk is made into icecream which will be available in a range of flavours from the new on-farm icecream parlour which is opening its doors for the first time on Sunday.

There will also be two guided farm walks, starting at 11.30am and 2.30pm, conducted by the farmer, John Barron.

John said: “In today’s society there is a lot of misunderstanding and lack of knowledge about where our food comes from and what goes into our food. We produce lovely fresh milk and delicious icecream at our farm.

"Do come and join us on Open Farm Sunday and find out more. My team and I are proud of the work we do and really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our farm.”

The other farms which are open are: Arkstone Court in Kingstone (11am to 4pm), Awnells Farm in Much Marcle (11am to 4pm), Dinedor Cross Farm in Dinedor (11am to 4pm), H Weston and Sons in Much Marcle (10am to 4pm), Pound Farm off Holme Lacy Road, Holme Lacy (10am to 3pm), The Leen in Pembridge (2pm to 5pm) and Warren Farm in Brockhampton Park, Bringsty (11am to 5pm).
