PRESIDENT Libby Hughes opened the March meeting of Old Radnor WI.
With all the business seen to, Leon, from The Salty Dog in Presteigne was introduced; an entertaining speaker who has a shop in the High Street.
Leon cooked two Spanish dishes, giving the history of the dishes. A delicious paella was made followed by a Spanish omelette.
The paellas history arose around the Mediterranean. A dish made by peasants with whatever ingredients they had available. Most had a supply of chicken, pork or rabbit, as well as all the vegetables grown in the warm climate.
The omelette was made with basic ingredients but tasted wonderful. Members were all given a taste of the dishes.
Ros Tarrant thanked Leon for giving members ideas of something different to cook.
Leon judged the competition for the evening, a poem about food written by yourself, was won by Anne Goodwin, 2nd Fran Deuchar, 3rd Cicely Bayliss, 4th Libby Hughes.
