A DRUG driver who crashed into a wall claimed that a defect with his car led to the incident.
Raifer Jack Weaver, 22, crashed his blue Vauxhall Corsa on the A44 at Lyonshall on September 26, while near four times over the legal limit for driving while under the influence of cannabis.
Weaver, of Rocks Green Crescent, Ludlow, admitted drug driving when he appeared before Hereford Magistrates last week.
Amy Davies, prosecuting, said Weaver sustained head injuries in the crash while a road side drug tested showed a positive reading for cannabis.
"Weaver said that the wheel bearings were pulling his car to the left leading to him mounting the grass verge and losing control and hitting a wall," said Mrs Weaver.
Matthew Lewis, mitigating, said: "He didn't try to evade responsibility for what he did." a
Magistrates banned Weaver from driving for three years and ordered him to pay a £110 fine, £30 victim surcharge and £135 costs.
