HEREFORDSHIRE will once again stand and remember those who have lost their lives fighting for our country.
A host of services, remembrance events and parades will take place tomorrow (Friday) for Armstice Day and on Remembrance Sunday in tribute to the lost service personnel.

Hereford

In Hereford, the city parade will once again form at the top of St Owen’s Street from 10.30am on Sunday before leaving for the War Memorial at 10.35am.

Reverend Pam Roe will introduce the service at 10.58am before the sounding of the last post and two minutes of silence from 11am.

This will be followed by wreath laying and hymns. The Dean of Hereford Cathedral, Michael Tavinor, will give an address before the service concludes with the national anthem being sang.

The parade will then head back up St Owen’s Street.

Leominster

In Leominster there will be two events of remembrance, with the first will taking place around the War Memorial at 10.55am tomorrow (Friday).


On Sunday there will be a Service of Remembrance at Leominster’s Priory Church of St Peter & St Paul which will begin at 10.55am.

As in previous years, the weekend parade will start from Grange Court at 10.45am.

After the service the focus moves to the War Memorial where wreaths will be laid and the Last Post sounded.

Ross-on-Wye

Ross-on-Wye will hold a memorial service to the Chelsea Pensioners and Korean Veterans at 11.30am today (Thursday) at The Prospect.

And at 11am tomorrow (Friday) the Royal British Legion will mark two minutes of silence at The Market House in Ross when the names of those who lost their lives in 1916, who are on the town memorial, will be read out.
Poppy petals will also be released.

Those wishing to join the Ross-on-Wye Royal British Legion parade on Sunday at The Prospect should gather at the police station at 10.15am.

Everyone else can wait at The Prospect at 10.55am for the Remembrance Service at 11am.

This will be followed by a service at St Mary’s Church.

Bromyard

In Bromyard there is a short service at the War Memorial at 11am on Friday.

Another short service at the memorial will be held from 11am on Sunday before the traditional full ceremony will be held at St Peter’s Church at 3pm, with the parade forming up at 2.45pm at the Tenbury Road car park outside the Conquest
Theatre.

Ledbury

St Michael and All Angels in Ledbury will be holding an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on Sunday at 10.50am followed by a Remembrance Day service in church.

Kington

Kington will host its remembrance service at St Mary’s Church at 10am.

The parade will start from St Mary’s from 10.40am and will go down to the War Memorial in the square where two minutes of silence will be marked before the wreaths will be laid.

Hay-on-Wye

In Hay-on-Wye the guards association corps of drums from Windsor will be leading the parade from 2.30pm from the
town clock.

The parade will march to St Mary’s Church where a service will commence at 3pm.

Other events

Remembrance Sunday services will also be held on Sunday
at All Saints’ Church, in Hereford and St Michael’s Church, in Breinton, at 9.30am, and then at 10.50am at Holy Trinity
Church and St Nicholas’ Church.

Aymestrey and Leinthall Earls are also due to hold an Armistice Day service on Friday at 10.50am at Aymestrey, and on Sunday the Remembrance Day service will take place at Kingsland at 10.50am.


In Hope-under-Dinmore a Remembrance Day Service will be held at St Mary’s Church from 10.50am while All Saints Church in Monkland will be holding their service on Friday
at 11am.

On Sunday there is a Remembrance Service at Kinsham at
9.30am. Then at 10am there is a service at The Cenotaph outside John Beddoes School at 10am.

This will be followed by a parade
to St Andrews Church for a group Remembrance service at 10.50am
