BLESSINGS for nine dogs, two donkeys, lots of doves and a plastic blue horse formed part of the pet and animal blessing service at St Mary’s church, Kinnerton last Sunday. During the event there was plenty of whines, barks, the odd growl and lots of tail wagging. The service led by Rev Ben Griffiths started with a welcome to the creatures and their people and was followed by four hymns including ‘All things bright and beautiful’ and ‘All creatures of our God and King’, there was a reading about Noah’s and his Ark and lots of animal and creatures related prayers. The Rev Ben spoke to the owners of each animal asking them what special qualities they had the answers included unconditional love, loyal, kindness, and having fun. All the dogs, the two donkeys, a selection of cuddly toys and a plastic blue horse brought to church by Owen Matthew-Jones were all blessed. Everyone then went outside so that the Rev Ben could bless the doves before they were released into the sky. At the end of the service everyone went back in the church to the café for teas, coffees, cakes and lots of other goodies.
