UPDATED plans to build more than 1,000 homes on the edge of Hereford are to go on show next week.

The Church Commissioners for England have, over the past few months, been working on proposals for the major development on land at Three Elms.

A planning application has not yet been submitted but the latest designs for 1,200 homes on the land between Kings Acre Road and Roman Road will be on view at two exhibitions next Wednesday.

In addition to the homes, the “urban extension” includes employment development, a neighbourhood centre with a mix of retail, health provision and leisure uses, and a new single form entry primary school.

“Park and choose interchanges”, together with public open spaces and play areas, also feature in the scheme.

The plot, which also borders Three Elms Road, would surround Huntington Lane.

Planners working for the Church Commissioners say Herefordshire Council has identified the site for a sustainable extension to Hereford through its Local Plan Core Strategy, which was adopted in October 2015.

The proposals can be viewed between 12noon and 2.30pm at St Peter’s Church in Hereford and from 6.45pm to 8.45pm at Whitecross High School.

Team members will be on hand to answer questions and comment forms will also be available

It is currently anticipated the application will be submitted to Herefordshire Council at the end of July.
