ARTHUR Davis celebrated his 90th birthday by hosting a champagne, canapés and cake garden party for family and friends recently at his home in Kimbolton. Arthur's continued active involvement with Rotary, Scouting, local history groups, printing and his local Kimbolton community meant that over a hundred people gathered in his beautiful garden to wish him many happy returns. His family and friends had travelled from as far as Scotland and Cornwall to be with him for his special day.

Arthur was born in Leominster on May 20, 1926. He was married to Sheila in 1949 after he returned from active service with the Gordon Highlanders in Holland and Germany, and had two children, John and Susan, who were both able to be with him for the special occasion.

Arthur established a highly successful printing works in Leominster in the 1950s with his brother, only retiring from this aged 70. Arthur has been very involved with Scouting since the age of eight, later having several Commissioner appointments and is now an honorary Scouter in the Hereford Worcester Scout County. He was a founder member of the Leominster Round Table and the Herefordshire section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Arthur has been a Rotarian for 45 years and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship nine years ago. Arthur's early hobbies included rally driving, swimming, sailing, mountaineering and rock climbing. He currently enjoys gardening, watercolour painting which he exhibits regularly, local history and is still the editor of the monthly Leominster Rotary news-sheet The Key.

As well as his two children, Arthur has three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
