POLICE have said they will take no action against a man whose car crashed onto the railway line in Hereford.
The car went off Old School Lane – a road adjacent to the railway line – and down an embankment on to the tracks at around 6.45am today.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “Officers from West Mercia Police attended with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and the driver of the car was treated by paramedics as a precaution but was uninjured.
“The driver, a man in his 30s, was spoken to by officers, and will not face any action.
“The car was recovered from the track and the line was handed back to Network Rail at 8.30am.”
Trains between Hereford and Shrewsbury were affected as a result and replacement buses were arranged by Arriva Trains Wales.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: "We were first notified by Cardiff control at 7.11am that they were dealing with a car on the line between Hereford and Shelwick Junction.
"The car was cleared by 8.35am and in the meantime Great Western Railway and London Midland terminated at Ledbury."
