PUPILS at Lady Hawkins' School were rewarded for their hard work at the school's annual certificate evening.

Academic achievement awards were given out to those students of the Kington school who had excelled in particular subject areas or achieved the best results overall at GCSE level.

Certificates were also given to Year 13 and Year 11 students from last year.

This year the current Year 11 students also attended as they did up to three subjects at the end of Year 10.

There were also awards given out for the Senior UKMT Maths Challenge and Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Clare Buckingham gained both a bronze and silver D of E awards in one year. There was also special praise for four current Year 11 students who recently attended a National Mathematics Competition at the University of South Wales and won first prize.

Guest speaker for the evening was Jo Hilditch, founder of British Cassis who spoke about her entrepreneurial journey to success after many previous failures.
