MORDIFORD C of E Primary School recently held a very successful Charities Week. The children and staff spent the week working towards a Charities Fair on the Friday afternoon where parents, friends and families were invited into school to raise money for their named charities - Project Mala, British Heart Foundation and St Michael's Hospice. Each class had the challenge to raise as much money as possible in different ways ranging from a pop-up cafe, homemade chocolates, beat the goalie, tombola, photo booth, toy and book sale, gingerbread men and bird feeders.

They held a 'wear what you like day' in aid of Project Mala who provide education for children from rural families in India. It is the 5th year the school has sponsored a primary child and the child currently being sponsored is a young girl called Guddi.

The classes also had a competition to see which year group could collect the most 1p and 2p coins over the week. Each class spent Friday morning counting the coins and the winning class was Pentaloe, raising £30.06.

After a huge final 'count-up' the school was pleased to have raised a total of £893.34 which was donated to the charities - £108 to Project Mala, £392.67 each to St Michaels Hospice and British Heart Foundation. Matt Ashcroft, from St Michael's Hospice attended the Celebration Worship to receive a cheque on their behalf. The school would like to extend a big 'thank you' to everyone for their hard work and support and they look forward to making this week a annual event.
