REDUNDANCIES are expected to be made at Balfour Beatty depots in Ross-on-Wye and Bromyard, the Hereford Times understands.

The depot in Ross-on-Wye in Ashburton Industrial Estate could be closed following the latest discussions, although this has not yet been confirmed by the company.

It is also thought jobs at the Bromyard depot will be lost.

Balfour Beatty Living Places is a contractor for Herefordshire Council and counts the management of the county’s highways among its duties.

In response to a Hereford Times query about the potential job losses and depot closures, Antonia Walton, spokesman for Balfour Beatty, said: “At a time where substantial savings are needed across the board, investment in services is also required.

“As such, discussions are on-going as to the most appropriate means with which to deliver these required changes while still optimising the benefits to the public.

“As these discussions are on-going we are not in a position to comment any further but will communicate all changes as and when they are confirmed.”
