PLANS for up to 90 new homes in Clehonger have been refused by Herefordshire Council.
Gladman Developments Ltd wanted permission to build the homes, along with access, parking and public open space with play facilities, at land off Madley Road.
The application had been recommended for refusal by the council's planning officer who said the development would make a 'significant, detrimental incursion into pastoral land' with urbanising effects and a loss of historic hedgerow.
Carole Protherough, a parish councillor for Clehonger, said the village had 'taken its hit' in terms of housing development.
Councillors agreed to refuse the application in accordance with the case officer’s recommendation.
