TRAVELLERS parked up on Hereford's Merton Meadow have told Herefordshire Council they will go "at the end of the week."

But the council confirmed this morning that the actual week has not been specified.

The council says it wants to "maintain dialogue" with the travellers for the time being.

Close to 20 vehicles were seen in the northern section of the site this morning.

It is believed a number of the caravans have come from France.

Meanwhile, work is being carried out related to the new link road - a route between Edgar Street and Commercial Road.

Wooden boards have been erected around the former BP garage on Edgar Street.
