HEREFORD’S St Nicholas Community Association (SNCA) has £36,700 to expand Westfaling Street play area.
The cash is coming from the the Veolia Environmental Trust to help fund the installation of play equipment for children under six.
The grant was confirmed at Veolia’s quarterly board meeting last month.
Grants are awarded through the Landfill Communities Fund and, since 2000, Veolia has awarded more than £334,000 to 15 projects in Herefordshire.
Talks between SNCA and Veolia will finalise a start date for the work.
Susan Boulter, from SNCA, said the grant was “great news” and would help provide opportunities for free outdoor play, and encourage children to visit the park from a young age.
Paul Taylor, executive director of the Veolia Environmental Trust, added: “I look forward to seeing the work start.”
