AN energy saving team from Herefordshire has made it to the final 12 of a national competition.

Team H.Energy Hat Throwers is currently second in the leader board in an initiative called the Big Energy Race.

Run by Global Action Plan (GAP), the environmental behavioural change charity, it is an initiative to support vulnerable households in communities across the UK to take control of their energy bills.

The Herefordshire team is made up of 82 members who so far have completed 961 challenges.

The final 12 teams will now compete with one another to reduce their energy use even further. Whichever team comes out on top will receive a prize worth £20,000 to spend in their communities on an energy saving initiative.

Andy Deacon, managing partner at Global Action Plan, said: “The Big Energy Race set out in January to help households manage their energy use efficiently. Over the course of the past three months we have seen more communities take control, get energy fit together and reduce their energy use.”
