TORY MP Mark Pritchard, who grew up in Herefordshire, faces no further action over a rape allegation.
Mr Pritchard, member for The Wrekin, spent the first five years of his life in what he has described as a “Victorian “ orphanage in Hereford, grew up in foster care and went to the then Aylestone High School.
Last year, Mr Pritchard told political magazine The House that he had spent most of his life in Herefordshire.
This morning it was confirmed that Mr Pritchard, 48, would no face any further action over the rape allegation that saw him arrested last month.
In a statement at Westminster, Mr Pritchard, who had been on bail, confirmed the case was over saying the law on anonymity needed to be reviewed with and fairness playing a “far greater role” that at present.
“To be falsely accused of anything in an awful thing. Of course my accuser remains anonymous,” he said.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that: “A 48-year-old man voluntarily attended a north London police station on Tuesday, December 2 where he was arrested, following an allegation of rape in central London.
"He returned on bail on January 6 where he was informed he will face no further action as there was insufficient evidence."
